Danish band Eldjudnir's first album Angrboða might be the most neglected but very important Black Metal album of year 2012 to 2013. Takes Norse Mythology as its theme, this album is epic, dark, cold and full of plenty of folk music elements. It has the temperament of Ulver's early works. First out on CD version!
Something different is an understatement ! Netra never disappoints with surprising elements & darkness galore. Trip hop & rap from a unique black metal artist. Had to have it. I love different genres & mixtures of elements one doesn't expect, are my jam. Gina Jordan
Most of this feels like a newer blackgaze album released in the last couple of years, but without vocals for the most part. More blackgaze and atmospheric black metal bands are releasing instrumental versions of their albums these days too. That being the case, this is another HDR artist whose progression feels ahead of his time. This album is from 2010. It’s really quite good and engaging, with fantastic guitar work and progressive aspects. Metallurgical Fire
Interesting mix of styles and influences on this album. Starts off as pretty standard black metal on track 1. Moves into American atmospheric black metal (2-4), then DSBM-ish (track 5), before ending with some old school Celtic Frost-esque riffing and roaring on track 6. Mixed bag, but works very well.
