The Mad Barron Gallowbraid and Agalloch brought me to this album...and gave me so much more. Favorite track: Gallowbraid - Earthen Throne.

Jeff Richardson The concept for this compilation is reminiscent of the challenge made between Shelly, Byron and Mary Godwin during that infamous Swiss interlude. Two years hence, beautiful Harriet took her own life and Godwin became Mary Shelly: Frankenstein soon followed. Favorite track: Kehrä - Valo.

After listening to Ysyry Mollvün, listening to Downfall of Nur was urgent and turned out to be one of the best decisions I have made in quite some time: Umbras de Barbagia is simply magisterial; the atmosphere can hardly be compared to anything else. There is a deep, palpable connection to nature imbueing each very fibre of this record. The amalgamation of black metal and folk elements is done with a high intuition for detail and class, resulting in a highly immersive experience. Wonderful. David Fischer

We recently had a death of a well liked tenant in the rooming house that I run in Gastown, Vancouver. While waiting for the coroner to arrive, I played Woodfall for the police, who were in attendance and my other tenants. The officers inquired about the music, and we had a good conversation about the band Musk Ox, and where they were from, and where they could find their music, on Bandcamp. It was a beautiful choice of music for the send-off of an old friend. Brad Abar

I'd say Havukruunu is the inheritor of Quorthon and Bathory. Male choirs, vikingesque themes and tales of Finnish paganism from the happier times before our ancestors were made to convert or die by sword of blooded cross.
