about

Folk is a hideous word.
Arguably one of the most intimidating manipulators of hellish soundscapes within the contemporary black metal scene, Kostnatěni returns three years after the critically acclaimed 2019 debut full-length Hrůza zvítězí. Even though Kostnatěni is often compared with underground legends like Odz Madnouk and Rhinocervs when it comes to its corrosive and abhorring atmosphere, it's not hard to discern D.F.'s strong obsession with (and henceforth, his genius manipulation of) traditional folk elements: infusing them with subversive percussions and deranged riff arrangements. In this latest EP titled Oheň hoří tam, kde padl, D.F. offers three new reinterpretations of traditional Turkish folk songs. In our honest opinion, the best term to describe the end result would be " Chimeric ": an haunting hybridity, a bizarre eulogy, a grandiose weirdness, and a distorted sanctity. The music perfectly suits the interior view of the Şehzade Mosque depicted in the cover, like an endless spiral towards an inexplicable realm of gold: the flickering fire burns where it fails.

Once again in collaboration with Dissociative Visions, Pest Productions is thrilled to co-release this EP in the format of digipak CDs this March. Stay tuned!.
