The circle of rebirth and destructions has been witnessed by the unchanging spirit of rainforests for thousands of years, thunderstorm as the embodiment of this circle aims to free the descendents of ancient spirits from the chains of modernity, by casting the primordial lightning onto their mortal shells——human reemerging as birds and returning to the cradle where their ancestors were first nurtured by Mother Nature.
This is the story been told by KAATAYRA's third full length titled Só Quem Viu o Relâmpago à Sua Direita Sabe. After two outstanding full lengths, encompassing a total run-time more than two hours, this one-man project hailing from Brazil has firmly established itself as one of the best among the vast flood of rising atmospheric black metal and immediately set itself apart from those generic trend-followers with a brilliant progressive execution of folkish ABM. In Só Quem..., KAATAYRA once again push the boundaries of sonic experimentation with 4 songs of pure acoustic opuses: completely forfeited the distorted harshness of metal, this full length is a magnificent mixture of rainforest ambience and psychedelic folk, embodied by the swirling yet trancy riffs and melodies: it's like combining the classic traits of Agalloch, Drudkh, Panopticon, and Volahn with a touch of Brazilian traditional folk and rainforest techno——a journey towards the atavistic past

This record is both breathtaking as well as impeccable. It was my last year's AOTY, and it totally deserved it. Not only it is quite original in it's concept, but also manages to transpire lots of emotions to the listener.
Well done Caio.

What I feel listening to this is some sort of sensation of tapping deep into Mother Earth and dark, soothing connection to literal roots in moist and mouldy soil. And since it's from Brazil and I am from Finland, there's a great sense of unknown veiling the vibe. Musicianship is top-notch and compositions are ambitious. Powerful and revitalizing. Intelligent music, I love this. 𝙅𝙤𝙚 𝙎𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙡𝙡
