adam_g What a way to leave a mark on the landscape of extreme music! I do not think anything else would have done justice for Myrkgrav or his debut album Trollskau, skromt og kolabrenning. This is a near perfect balance of the heaviness and impact of extreme music and the wistfulness and world-building that traditional folk music is able to do. The re-recordings put older tracks in a different light, again allowing the listener to delight in their story, bathed in the atmosphere of times long past. Myrkgrav became one of the prominent forces in the wave of folk/viking metal since the debut album "Trollskau, skrømt og kølabrenning"was released in 2006.

After the silence of 10 years, the band now returns with the second album "Takk og farvel; tida er blitt ei annen". Following the initial digital release, the physical CD version is due to be unleashed under Pest Productions.

This melancholic chapter from the old north will be presented with a 20-page booklet of stunning illustrations, bilingual Norwegian/English lyrics and two bonus tracks. In addition to normal edition, a boxset limited to 50 copies will also be available, including digipak CD, logo patch, two postcards and one flag (80cmx40cm).

I'd say Havukruunu is the inheritor of Quorthon and Bathory. Male choirs, vikingesque themes and tales of Finnish paganism from the happier times before our ancestors were made to convert or die by sword of blooded cross. Myrkgrav has created a number of classic songs that are perfect hybrids of folk and black/viking metal, however Vonde auer is the strongest example of his work. This song is an absolute blast and the traditional version played on fiddle is right up my alley when it comes to folk music. Eric
