Michael Perez Epic, theatrical, grandiose, melodic, vampyric, haunting... these are all adjectives that perfectly describe Sintala Rána's debut full length. This album is so well crafted and rich in atmosphere, which leads me to believe that the two men behind the project are seasoned musicians. This is a truly immersive listening experience, full of gothic beauty and blasting aggression. Highly recommended to fans of Zorakarer, Hecate Enthroned and early Cradle of Filth. Favorite track: Vlad the Impaler.

about

The notorious legacy of Vlad the Impaler has remained as one of the most explored theme among black metal, which makes it rather intriguing when a band from the Far East incorporates His Tyranny into their music. With their latest opus Transylvanian Moonrise, Sintala Rána aims to recreate medieval darkness through their brilliant execution of operatic blasphemy. Based in Beijing, China, this two-men project took their name from J.R.R.Tolkien's middle-earth fantasy (meaning Moon Eclipse in Quenya). As loyal followers of legends like Emperor and Anorexia Nervosa, Sintala Rána offers a magnificent display of symphonic black metal while adding a rather modern approach through their debut full length Transylvanian Moonrise: an album consists of shredding tremelo melodies and majestic orchestral arrangements, with epic choirs and sinister narratives intersected in-between, Sintala Rána manages to conjure both violence and romance of Vlad's bloody reign and misty Carpathian. This October, Pest Productions will release this gem in physical formats, do not hesitate to take this journey back to dark medieval age!
