Luke I can't recall how this band ended up on my radar. J from Pure Wrath seems a likely candidate, but no paper trail remains. One way or another I found myself greatly anticipating this release, even if I may not have been entirely sure why. The description mentions frost and mist and elk(!?), which are not things I associate with Indonesia but are perhaps obligatory references. But don't worry, there is a unique atmosphere here. And a very good one, especially in its more idiosyncratic moments.

about

Biting wind howls towards the frosty and misty woods. Following the trails of elks, I burst into woeful tears and gaze into the distance at the lights in the homeland.

AFRA are a four-piece post atmospheric and depreesive black metal band from Indonesia. Through the permission from the mother of earth, father of sky and ancestors, the band describes their sonic ritual that encompasses a rich blend of philosophy and emotions as Aruna Cakrawala (Blessings at the end of the Horizon).
