Another project from the person behind Kaatayra, this one is a bizarre, surprising, and extremely compelling mixture of ambient and electro/house with extremely raw black metal muffled by so much feedback it sounds like a literal basement project. It shouldn’t work, but the mixture of cavernous vocals, dissonant guitar squeals, darkly funky breaks, and wavering analog synths is potent and unexpectedly appealing.

Arguably the most experimental and unpredictable (in a good way) project of his entire oeuvre, Bríi has already caught our attention with his debut almost three years ago. If the debut can be seen as a surrealistic continuation of the closing track of Kaatayra's first album, where the ferocious BM riffs give way to (and eventually meld into) the almost trance-like techno beats, Bríi's following releases again broaden the scope of its experimentation and favors an unfettered, non-linear composition style that is psychedelic, abstract, and as epic and dreamy as his other outputs.
His 2022 full-length, Corpos Transparentes, is a fascinating single song lasting over 36 minutes that is almost entirely devoid of distortion, instead relies solely on synth, clean guitar, and masterfully performed piano medley to create a melancholic ambiance veiled by rainforest sun -- a experimentation he already professed in Kaatayra's 2020 release " Só Quem Viu o Relâmpago à Sua Direita Sabe." WhileÚltimo Ancestral Comum, his latest release of this project, returns its focus to the realm of Black Metal -- many of its passages contain some of the most amazing riffs in the genre, with a structure that is similar to Kaatayra's second full-length; this is in turn complemented by a cosmic blend of techno and dark wave elements in his own unique style.

Entre Tudo que é Visto e Oculto, premier album de Bríi (qui est aussi derrière Kaatayra), déjoue toutes les attentes — et quand je dis toutes, c'est vraiment toutes. C'est précisément pour cette raison que vous allez adorer cet album, tout du moins si vous faites preuve d'ouverture d'esprit. Organique par les éléments robotiques ("Sabedoria de Tudo que é Oculto"), à des années-lumière tout en étant profondément viscéral ("A Hora da Morte"), cet album est une expérience totale et avant-gardiste.

Atmospheric Black Metal from Brazil. It never ceases to amaze me how artists can take local musical themes & develop them to a completely logical & almost inevitable BM conclusion! So it is here & It is also done in a totally beautiful & passionate way. Yet another exciting project whose discography I am going to have to dig into! Highly recommended!!!
