Following the widely acclaimed “熵 Entropy” in 2021, GOLDEN CAT PAGODA returns with the second album entitled “弥弥 Mi Mi” that is considered as a truly experimental atmospheric black metal opus of the future. The main concepts of ten new tracks disseminated through poetic lyrics are still based on the bizarre folktales and whispered journeys in the dreamland. The first single “Three Facades” released earlier via Bandcamp demonstrates the abstraction of GCP in a constantly evolving realm, ranging from fast black metal passages to hypnotic atmospherics led by traditional Chinese drumming. Listeners shall follow the sonic tactics of “弥弥 Mi Mi” to seek for the spiritual depth of inner self.

人总是在相信着什么东西，没有人是完全迷茫的，也没有人是足够清醒的，我们就在缝隙世界里摸索。每个人都背负着重量在本能和理性之间徘徊，最终会找到更深的自我。时间不是细水长流，而是像瀑布一样在冲刷着。整张专辑就像是在从井口望向井底，看到的只是一个晃动的虚影。
隐匿于上海的金猫塔全新专辑“弥弥”正式推出。十首实验色彩浓重的氛围先锋黑金属组曲，依旧延续着那些充满怪诞色彩的民俗传说，扩张成巨大的暗网笼罩住听者心绪。自从2020年初该计划启动以来，金猫塔一直广受关注。早前发布的新曲“三面孔”MV 完整地呈现出金猫塔音乐体系中的多变性，从中国鼓带出来的氛围部分到高速黑金属段落，每一面都可以极为自然地过渡到新的界面。在“弥弥”之中，金猫塔不断探索精神领域的黑暗深度，释放给听者独特的听觉体验。

Late 90's BM worship, but it's also a lil more than that. This album takes the best elements from the scene it's inspired by and mostly avoids the worst of it; the song-writing is well-written, it's performed with passion and fun, and the production is raw but isn't lo-fi. (i.e. it doesn't obfuscate and/or suckass). Tl;dr It's safe but high quality BM. Recommended.

It's a cool journey. Beautiful atmospheric blackened doom ambient combo. Sometimes like Pink Floyd playing funeral doom. Hypnotic album from Hypnotic Dirge records. Wow!

Blackbraid quickly followed up their 2022 debut in 2023 with more native folk infused furious black metal. This is by no means a sophomore slump as it is equally excellent, methodical, melodical, and approachable as the first record. 9/10
